What is street photography?
Street photography is a method
of documentary portraiture with a large focus on
urban photography that crosses paths with many other types of everyday photography whilst capturing events and people in a way as to be presented as the photographers own
social commentary of current events and life around them. Well at least it is to me!
A lot of street photography will often lean towards
portrait galleries and
candid photography of people going about their day-to-day lives, with some cross over into family photography and even
pet portraits, news and documentary.
Pictures of streets do not need people present in them to be striking or artistic, the lack of people can be just as immersive as a busting photograph full of people rushing or bimbling about their daily lives. Often capturing a
photo within photo whilst shooting street photography, it is incredibly easy to take pictures of streets only to later notice background events and characters bring to life the scene.
